The Scattered Brain and Entrepreneurship

It’s almost as if scattered brains and entrepreneurship go hand in hand.

Many entrepreneurs would argue that this is not the case, but others, like myself, did not start off with all it worked out.

When people first start their entrepreneurial adventure, they don’t know what to do, how to do it, or who to listen to, which leads to what I call scatterbrains.

A lot of people with ADHD have this dilemma as well, with the exception that ADHDers have a much harder time controlling their scattered brain.

It can be quite daunting when you first begin your entrepreneurial journey; you suddenly have so many plates to juggle.

Typically, an aspiring entrepreneur sets up shop by themselves, with only me, myself, and I.

As a result, they double as a salesperson, marketer, product/service developer, designer, tech department, content creator, and facilitator of day-to-day activities.

It’s no wonder they have scatterbrains.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do? What is the most important thing? And how are you going to get all done with the time you have? are all the concerns you may have.

There are a million and one things you can spend your attention on in business at any given time, and most of us never get around to developing all of our ideas.

As entrepreneurs, deciding where our time is best spent can be difficult.

However, it’s important to prioritise what you’re focused on and understand what you’re aiming for so that you can focus your attention on things that will help you develop your business.

When it comes to prioritising your time, it’s important to consider where your actions are leading.

For example:

  • When you’re taking a course, it’s not a good use of your resources if you don’t make time to put everything you’ve learned into practise.
  • If you’re making content but don’t have time to promote it, it’s not a good use of your time to keep creating without promoting. It’s preferable to produce fewer items and devote more time to promotion.
  • If you’re going to the trouble of attracting users to your email list (either by content or social media), you should also make an effort to keep them engaged.

When you devote time to tasks in your business, you should consider where certain activities are going and whether you are managing your time investments to ensure that your goals are accomplished.

Prioritization can be spoken about in two ways: day to day and big picture.

If you’re short on time in your daily life, prioritising the projects you take on is important.

As a general rule, start with the activities that are most likely to generate revenue for your business.

This may include things like submitting a job quote, responding to an inquiry, finishing client work, or even sending an invoice.

If you don’t have time for anything, start with the things that generate revenue for your business.

Start working on your marketing if you aren’t getting much sales.

It’s critical that your marketing strategy is well-balanced; as I previously said, focusing all of your attention on social media without a sound roadmap for where you want to lead your followers or producing content you don’t advocate won’t help you.

“How am I going to find time for that?” ask yourself. if you start a new business/project, purchase a course, or make a decision that will have an impact on your workday.

You’ve heard the saying, right?

Every time you say YES to something, you are saying NO to something else.

Or simply, to do something different you are going to need to sacrifice something.

Now, you could have some free time that you spend watching TV or mindlessly browsing through social media, so the sacrifice isn’t as important.

However, if you don’t make intentional room in your calendar to accommodate the latest effort, you’ll find yourself putting off other tasks.

Not making time in life for new time-consuming tasks creates stress and chaos.

Prioritization is an essential aspect of growth and business development.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, and you might not know you’re not concentrating on what can get you closer to your goals.

It’s important to assess how you invest your time to ensure that it’s in line with your business goals.
